India
India produces some of the highest quality and most popular tea leaves in the world.
Assam tea is grown at high altitudes, in estates along the Brahmaputra River, where the second flush leaves (second harvest of the season) are highly sought after for their rich, malty flavour. East of Assam, between the borders of Nepal and Bhutan, are the Darjeeling tea gardens which are considered the most desirable in the world. Darjeeling is located on the slopes of the Himalayas and these teas estates are the highest in the world.
